Thailand’s Monetary Policy and Macroeconomic Objectives

The AMCHAM Business Economics Committee was honored to welcome Dr. Don Nakornthab, Senior Director of Economic and Policy Departments at the Bank of Thailand, was the Business Economics Committee’s July meeting’s distinguished guest speaker. Dr. Don elaborated on Thailand’s Monetary Policy and Macroeconomic Objectives and discussed the strength of the Baht.

Dr. Nakornthab holds a PH. D and M.A. in Economics from Harvard. With over 17 years of experience, Dr. Nakornthab’s primary responsibilities include overseeing the analysis of Thailand’s macroeconomic conditions as well as formulation of monetary policy recommendations to support the Bank’s monetary policy decisions. Previously, Dr. Nakornthab was also the senior director, dealing with the bank’s financial institutions strategy department. Dr. Nakornthab has a rich history in dealing with the banks’ financial sector master plan, financial stability assessment, and financial institutions foreign policies.
