On November 12, the AMCHAM Customs & Excise Council meeting, featured speakers from the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok. The conference provided crucial updates on U.S. export control rules, focusing on the Foreign Direct Product Rules and the Common High Priority List (CHPL). The session aimed to guide member companies subject to the updated U.S. Export Administration Regulations throughthe latest rules and compliance requirements.  

The speaker emphasized the potential consequences of engaging in transactions involving U.S.-regulated items without proper licensing, stressing the importance of due diligence in understanding customers and their supply chains. Strict U.S. export controls were highlighted, along with the significance of the CHPL, which includes 50 HS codes used to prioritize controlled items.
