About the Council
Mission: To support the accelerated growth of the creative economy sector in Thailand by bringing together private sector actors and partnering with key departments in the Royal Thai Government.
2025 Highlights:
- Roundtable with the Thailand Creative Culture Agency (THACCA) to discuss the government’s creative economy initiatives and incentives for the film industry. THACCA was represented by Dr. Surapong Suebwonglee, Deputy Chief of the Policy Advisory Board to the Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Soft Power Development Committee; Chairperson of the National Soft Power Development Steering Subcommittee on Tourism Industry Marisa Sukosol Nunbhakdi; and Assistant Executive Director of Strategic Transformation Office Ranee Itara.
- Held a Member Luncheon entitled Beyond the Big Screen: The Economic Impact of Soft Power, with keynote speaker Dr. Surapong Suebwonglee.
- Following the address, the committee moderated a lively panel discussion between Apinat Siricharoenjit, of Living Films; Ruben Hattari of Netflix; and Dane Halpin of Minor Hotels, sharing insights on how international studios and streaming platforms are investing in Thai productions, creating thousands of jobs, developing local talent, and amplifying global exposure for Thai culture. They illustrated how blockbuster shows and films are driving economic growth, fueling ancillary industries (for example, local services, hospitality, tourism), and reinforcing Thailand’s reputation as a vibrant creative hub in the global marketplace.
