AMCHAM Announces Winners of 2018 CSR Excellence Awards
November 21, 2018 – Four special awards were unveiled at AMCHAM Thailand’s CSR Excellence (ACE) Awards, which honor the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs of member companies. Chargé d’ Affaires Peter Haymond, U.S. Embassy and AMCHAM President, Jeffrey Nygaard, presided over the 9th annual awards celebration yesterday evening; recognizing companies with a demonstrated commitment to conducting business responsibly and giving back to society.
Out of the 77 companies that applied for the awards, 60 met the rigorous qualification standards for recognition of their CSR activities, and three were selected as best in class:
- Minor International won the Excellence in CSR Project Award – presented by AMCHAM President, Jeffrey Nygaard, recognized the general excellence in CSR projects over 1 million Baht.
- Cargill Siam won the Excellence in CSR Project Award (Project under 1 Million Baht) – presented by AMCHAM President, Jeffrey Nygaard, recognized the general excellence in CSR projects under 1 million Baht.
- Microsoft won the Excellence in Developing Smart People – presented by Director-General, Auramon Supthaweethum, Department of Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Commerce recognized excellence in the internal or external projects contributing to Thailand 4.0’s objectives of building human capacity. Focusing on meeting the challenges of an industrialized economy, Thailand 4.0 places strong emphasison public-private partnerships.
- Cisco won the Excellence in Education Partnership (Ambassador’s Award) – presented by Chargé d’ Affaires, Peter Haymond, U.S. Embassy and recognized the efforts to link US knowledge, expertise, or best practices to Thailand’s education system (vocational, general, informal, at any level).
Special designations were also given to firms that have received ACE awards for five or more consecutive years (Gold), and three to four consecutive years (Silver). See Appendix for a list of all companies that received recognition.
