AMCHAM Members to Support Bangkok Governor’s Ambition to Make Bangkok a More Livable City for All

On October 7, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM) members welcomed the Bangkok Governor, Chadchart Sittipunt, to AMCHAM’s membership luncheon.

At the meeting, the Governor provided an energizing presentation, explaining his goal for Bangkok to become a more livable city for all and his adoption of a people-centric approach to build trust and address population needsHe further discussed Bangkok’s grassroots issues covering healthcare, education, transportation, waste collection, and other urban topics. Additionally, he touched on his comprehensive development policies, covering over 200 goals, to address the current challenges in adopting technology, increasing public-private partnerships and cooperation with other cities and countries, and his efforts to build economic prosperity and a safe and healthy living space for Bangkok. The Governor ended his presentation with his appreciation for AMCHAM members’ support for his initiatives while welcoming further cooperation, contributing to a better Bangkok for all.

Participants had the opportunity to take part in an interactive question and answer session covering various points of members’ interest and the Governor’s plans, such as the million-tree project and a mentoring program for primary school students. AMCHAM President Jeff Nygaard, Executive Vice President of Operations and Technology for Seagate Technology, on behalf of the AMCHAM community, expressed strong support for the Governor’s ideas, stating “The AMCHAM community recognizes the Governor's efforts and innovative approaches to addressing long-standing challenges of a big city. It is important for us to work together to strengthen Bangkok’s infrastructure while maintaining its charm.” AMCHAM members attending the event showed great enthusiasm for supporting the Governor’s initiatives and for collaborating with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to promote a livable and inclusive Bangkok.
