Hotels and Hotel Residences: Market Outlook for Greater Pattaya
On September 5, hospitality industry executives gathered at the Holiday Inn Pattaya to hear fresh insights on the outlook for hotels and hotel residences in Pattaya.
After a welcome by Charles Blocker of InVision Hospitality, the event opened with a deep dive into the current state of the hotel industry in Pattaya. Fenady Uriarte (STR ) unveiled STR’s latest proprietary statistics on hotel occupancy and RevPAR, drilling down into detail and benchmarking trends experienced there against other destinations in Thailand and similar beach destinations regionally. Nikhom Jensiriratanakorn (Horwath HTL) broadened the discussion to the EEC region as a whole, looking at the potential for Pattaya to emerge as a business destination in addition to a beach destination.
The two presentations were followed by a lively and wide-ranging panel discussion on the growing appeal of branded hotel residences and the complexities of condominium hotels, with panelists representing the hospitality, legal, and property market industries. Moderated by Bill Barnett of C9 Hotelworks, panelists included Serena Lim of IHG, Brennan Cunningham from FazWaz Property Group, and Papon Kanungvanichakul of Baker MacKenzie Thailand.
In closing, Puchong Kometsopha of WHA Group gave an overview of infrastructure and industrial development in the EEC, further highlighting opportunities for the hospitality sector in this area.
