Trade & Investment

Mission: To enhance the trade and investment policy environment and allow US companies investing and operating in Thailand to continually improve their competitiveness, to increase market access with the same level of playing field, and to reduce or eliminate trade and investment barriers while promoting business relationships between the US and Thailand and among ASEAN countries.

2023 Accomplishments:

• Led AMCHAM Member Luncheon with Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary-Generalof Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) on January 18, 2023.
• Led AMCHAM virtual membership meeting with the Department of Trade Negotiations Ratchavitch Piyapramote, Permanent Mission of Thailand to the World Trade Organization and World Intellectual Property Organization on March 10, 2023.
• Organized a Member Luncheon Taking the Temperature: The Investment Climate in Thailand Post Election with distinguished panelists Wiwat Hemmondharop, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI); Dr. Santitarn Sathirathai, Group Chief Economist, Sea Group; Dr. Soraphol Tulayasathien, Senior Executive Vice President, Head of Corporate Strategy Division, and Head of Sustainable Market Development Division at the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) on June 8, 2023.
• Partnered with the Small Business & Entrepreneur (SBE) Committee on the Thailand Entrepreneur & SME Business Symposium: Navigating Legal, Tax, HR, Labor, Banking, and BOI on September 21, 2023

Plans and Priorities for 2024: The AMCHAM Trade and Investment Committee serves as a forum for AMCHAM members to discuss trade and investment policy, trends, and emerging issues of interest to promote stronger bilateral and regional business and commercial ties between the US and Thailand and other ASEAN countries. In 2024, the Committee will continue to work in partnership with other AMCHAM Councils and Committees to position AMCHAM as a resource and strategic dialogue partner with the Royal Thai Government, the US Government, business and industry associations and stakeholders focusing on expanding business and investment opportunities in Thailand for AMCHAM members through knowledge sharing, networking opportunities, advocacy for ease of doing business and business enabling trade and investment policy and regulatory environment.
