About the Committee
Mission: The Nominating Committee is appointed in Q1 by the Board. The Nominating Committee is tasked with recruiting, interviewing and evaluating members to develop a strong slate of diverse and qualified candidates for the annual AMCHAM board governor election.
Responsibilities:
- The Nominations Committee, made up of five representatives of ordinary AMCHAM members, is appointed by the President with the approval of the board. The Committee usually has two current board governors who are not eligible to run in the upcoming election and three members who are active in the AMCHAM community.
- The Committee will review the AMCHAM Guidelines for Candidate Evaluation which the Executive Director will publish to the membership along with a request for nominations. The Executive Director will collect all nominations, and forward them to the Nominating Committee for consideration.
- The members of the Committee are also expected to proactively solicit additional candidates to ensure a diverse slate with balanced industry experience.
- Each candidate must be personally contacted by at least one member of the Nominating Committee to discuss the board responsibilities.
- The Nominating Committee should meet at least three times for the purpose of the annual election.
- The board shall be updated by the nominating committee at each board meeting on the candidate slate for the election to help with suggestions for balanced board recruitment.
- At the September Chamber meeting, the Nominating Committee will read its slate of candidates to the membership. Floor nominations may or may not be called for at this time. If floor nominations are called for in a given year, it is the Committee’s responsibility to verify that anyone nominated from the floor is seconded by another member and meets the minimum eligibility requirements.
