About the Council
Mission: The Legal Council organizes programs on legal and regulatory matters related to doing business in Thailand. This includes Thai, U.S. and international laws, regulations and developments affecting the U.S. business community in Thailand. The Legal Committee also engages in advocacy work on behalf of the American business community in Thailand and works closely with all other Committees.
2025 Highlights:
- Represented the U.S. business community in Thailand at the Department of Intellectual Property Consultation on IP Protection and Enforcement in Thailand.
- Organized a panel discussion on Trade, Tech, and Compliance to explore how legal and commercial teams are responding to increased scrutiny of supply chains and data flows against the backdrop of U.S. tariffs. Panelists included Jackson Pek of Amadeus; Tony Andriotis of DLA Piper; David Lawrence of Pegleg; and Tessanu Chutikanon of Siam Premier.
- Held a panel session to review key legal updates in 2025, covering the Foreign Business Act Amendments; potential upcoming ESG legislation; and HR and employment related issues, such as the Employee Welfare Fund and maternity/paternity leave. Speakers included Suruswadee Jaimsuwan of Tilleke & Gibbins and Chai Lertvittavachaikul of Kudun & Partners.
- Networking events for the U.S. business community in Thailand following the panel events.
- Organized a working meeting to plan activities and topics for 2025 and 2026.
