Virtual Membership Meeting with the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) - Dec 7

On December 7, 2022, AMCHAM Food & Agri-business Co-chair, Simon Denye of Harmless Harvest Thailand, with AMCHAM members participated in a Virtual Membership Meeting with the Deputy Secretary-General Vinit Atisook of the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC), who delivered an informative update on multiple agricultural related policies aligning with the current government’s sustainability agenda.

The Deputy Secretary-General described the overall agricultural landscape and the current economic contribution from the agricultural sector in Thailand. He emphasized food safety and food security principles that have put in place various prospective policies which further steer Thailand’s position as the “Kitchen of the World”. In particular, the organic production policy caught the participants’ attention to learn MOAC’s plans to support the business throughout the supply chain. Lastly, the virtual meeting ended with a productive question and answer session where the audience had an opportunity to gain insightful information on policies to promote Thailand’s position as the “Kitchen of the World”, the potential of Thai organic products in the global market, public-private sector collaboration, and MOAC’s plans on addressing climate change.

In conclusion, MOAC addressed the Public-Private Partnership model as one of the tools to elevate agricultural productivity in the country which is in alignment with core values of AMCHAM in engaging with the government and the community to create sustainable prosperity for all.
