Meeting with Chaiyut Kumkun, the Principal Advisor on Customs Control Development

On July 7, 2022, Paul Sumner of PwC and Co-chair of the Customs and Excise Council led a delegation of AMCHAM members to meet with Chaiyut Kumkun, the Principal Advisor on Customs Control Development. AMCHAM  Customs and Excise Council Co-chairs and exclusive-tier members also represented AMCHAM at the meeting. Advisor Chaiyut was accompanied by directors from several divisions together with their teams.

During the meeting, AMCHAM members engaged in a discussion on various issues related to duty and customs measures, such as simplifying and digitizing cross border clearance, the National Single Window, interdepartmental data exchanges, and updates on AMCHAM letters. AMCHAM delegation also sought clarifications on criteria for approval of self-guarantee and duty privileges for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), Advisor Chaiyut addressed AMCHAM’s proposals and expressed his wish for continued collaborations to achieve the mutual goal of simplifying and enhancing the efficiency of customs procedures.

AMCHAM stands ready to continue a constructive partnership with the Customs Department, to facilitate the ease of doing business in the Kingdom and contribute to the country’s prosperity.
