AGM & Fireside Chat with Michael Heath, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires and AMCHAM President Greg Wong

On March 30, at The Athenee Hotel, over 100 AMCHAM members gathered for the Annual General Meeting and Fireside Chat with Michael Heath, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires and AMCHAM President Greg Wong. This was AMCHAM’s first large in-person event since the Covid-19 outbreak last year.

AMCHAM Executive Director Heidi Gallant spoke about AMCHAM’s pivot to new event formats for networking and the Member Plus App that allows members to connect online through the member directory. The event then continued with a presentation by AMCHAM President Greg Wong, Managing Director, Agoda, who summarized the growth of AMCHAM in 2020. 2020 was a year of disruption and accelerated innovation, and as a result, AMCHAM’s service offering in 2021 looks radically different from just one year ago. Networking is a huge priority for the Chamber and the new programming is more relevant in these time with both online and in-person events such as Insight Exchange, AMCHAM Business Today, and The Governors’ Table dinner series.

Greg also welcomed new members to the community and spoke about the Chamber’s increased advocacy activities, which has been a valuable service to members. AMCHAM had frequent meetings with key stakeholders in different ministries and departments of the Royal Thai Government in 2020 and have a series of important meetings lined up for 2021. AMCHAM Treasurer Aileen Chew, Mastercard, presented the 2020 Financial Report and the membership voted for appointing auditors for the next financial year.

The event was followed by a candid chat between Greg Wong and Chargé d’affaires, Michael Health. They discussed strategic areas of collaboration between the U.S. and Thailand and the future of economic diplomacy.
