AMCHAM Thailand Announces Finalists for CSR Excellence Awards

October 20 - Three new awards were unveiled in advance of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Thailand’s CSR Excellence (ACE) Awards, which honor the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs of member companies. U.S. Ambassador Michael George DeSombre and representatives from the Thai government will preside over the awards on October 27 to honor CSR endeavors of AMCHAM member companies who have demonstrated commitment to conducting business responsibly and giving back to local communities.

This year 76 member companies will be recognized for their CSR endeavors and Covid-19 specific CSR activities. AMCHAM CSR Excellence Awards applaud AMCHAM member companies for their long-term efforts to support Thailand’s sustainable development. Qualifying companies have CSR programs with measurable results that create both economic and social gains for a year or more, high levels of employee involvement, and strong strategic partnerships with Thai organizations. The company mission must also align closely with the goals of the CSR activities.

Member companies are recognized with different tiers for companies who receive this award in consecutive years: CSR Silver level: 3 consecutive years, CSR Gold level: 5 consecutive years and CSR Platinum level: 10 consecutive years. In addition to recognition, eight finalists have been selected by a judging panel of senior executives and the AMCHAM CSR Committee for special awards:

The Ambassador's Award: Given to a company whose CSR project supports U.S.-Thai partnership.

  • Aditya Birla Foundation
  • Cardinal Health

The Thai Development Award: Honoring a company whose pandemic-response work has benefited the community.

The CSR Excellence Award: Given to a company whose efforts have helped frontline workers respond to the pandemic.

These awards illustrate the highest benchmarks of responsible business practices by Thai and American businesses in Thailand and highlight the role of the private sector in advancing Thailand’s future. The CSR programs focus on a range of activities such as environment conservation, STEM education, healthcare, and investing in future generations. In 2020, in addition to their regular CSR efforts, AMCHAM member companies have donated over 100 million Baht in cash and product donations. These companies have donated over one million meals in addition to donating masks, medical equipment, health, and hygiene products to support frontline workers during the pandemic. The Covid-19 specific initiatives of AMCHAM member companies are highlighted through the AMCHAM Works Together campaign.

The AMCHAM CSR Excellence Awards have become a signature AMCHAM program that has been replicated in several other countries in Asia including Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam.
