HR Committee Video Conference: Leadership and Trust Equation in Time of Uncertainty
Leadership and Trust Equation in Time of Uncertainty
On June 25 to over 40 attendees, AMCHAM’s HR Committee hosted a videoconference titled: Leadership and Trust Equation in Time of Uncertainty. HR committee leader, Shaun Wong, introduced guest speaker Doy Charnsupharindr; CEO, Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute (BECI) and an instructor on leadership, communication, and coaching skills for leaders. Doy shared his knowledge and insight on how to build trust equation in time of uncertainty. He mentioned that covid-19 has disrupted the way we work and in crisis, people look up to and trust leaders who step up to take the leadership role, and are able to align on the 5 powers of Authentic Leadership – communication, presence, conviction, knowledge and intention.
Doy explained that authentic leadership is something that is essential and applied on a day-to-day basis, but it is needed now more than before. Leaders who can communicate openly, instill confidence in people who they work with based on knowledge and acceptance of the situation, and intention of care can effectively lead out of a crisis. Doy who has experience in coaching leaders, shared that we often create negative associations with the word “uncertainty” but it is only when we push ourselves out of our comfort zone, learning happens and good leaders consistently push themselves out of their comfort zone.
The event was followed by a question and answer session where AMCHAM members asked key questions on communications during a crisis, trust equation, intimacy through cultural differences and best practices to grow out of a crisis.
The presentation and video from the event are available on the AMCHAM Member Portal.
