About the Council
Mission: To continually advocate for the policy priorities of AMCHAM Thailand members and to position the Council’s monthly meeting as a main forum for interactive discussion on advocacy issues of AMCHAM members’ interests. Furthermore, the Council will continue to promote strong engagement with key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to advance AMCHAM’s brand as a trusted partner in Thailand.
2025 Highlights:
- Convened monthly member meetings to share updates on AMCHAM’s government engagements and discuss policy and regulatory developments.
- Together with the Digital Economy Committee, convened a working group on the following recommendation letters:
– Draft Platform Economy Act – as a result, the Cabinet paused the draft regulation and asked relevant government agencies to conduct further
studies.
– Trade Competition Commission of Thailand’s draft guidelines Targeting Unfair Trade Practices and Anti-competitive Conduct in Digital Platforms for the Sale of Goods or Services (e-commerce) – as a result the government approached our members for in-detail feedback. - Participated in the Digital Governance Agency’s public consultation on Foreign Workers in Thailand. As a result, the council published a recommendation letter:
– Managing foreigner taxes, visa and residency services, and immigration-related matters. - Participated in Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC)’s private sector feedback for enhancing public services to facilitate business and investment (B-READY). In support of the government, together with ESG and Healthcare, the council is preparing two recommendation letters on utility and market competition.
