Food & Agri-business

Mission: To represent the interests of AMCHAM organizations in the areas of food, agriculture, and agri-business. To promote dialogue between the American food, agriculture and agri-business community, Thai public and private sector decision makers, and the Royal Thai Government.

2022 Accomplishments:

• Jointly with the Healthcare Council, conducted a planning meeting on AMCHAM’s advocacy position to increase digitization of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approvals.
• Hosted a Virtual Membership Meeting with the FDA, with keynote speaker Jiraratana Thesasilpa, Food and Drug Technical Officer, to discuss the new Ministry of Public Health regulations on GMOs.
• Organized a Virtual Membership Meeting with the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAC), welcoming Vinit Atisook, Deputy Secretary General, to discuss Thailand’s agricultural policy direction for the future as well as plans and strategies to enhance food security and sustainability of the country.

About the Committee: The Food & Agri-business Committee will continue to monitor important Thai FDA and Ministry of Agriculture regulatory updates and present relevant issues to the members throughout the year. The Committee will also monitor the legislative progression of the draft Cannabis and Hemp Law and will present a full update to members once published in the Royal Gazette. The Committee will organize its regular early year planning meeting to vet members’ issues with a view to organizing meeting content around selected topics.
