Digital Governance Council: Background of the Draft Artificial Intelligent Act
On September 22, the AMCHAM Digital Governance Council welcomed Hattapong Hirunrat, Legal Officer at the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), who presented the background of the draft AI Act. He outlined key definitions, including AI systems, high-risk AI, developers, and service providers, and discussed AI sandboxes, standards, certification, and ETDA’s role in promoting responsible AI adoption to support Thailand’s ambition to become a digital economy hub.
Members discussed areas where AMCHAM could contribute to the draft legislation. Participants also received updates on data center regulations, the draft Digital Platform Economy Act (PEA), and proposed amendments to the Trade Competition Act.
