At the AMCHAM Member Luncheon, the Deputy Chief of the Policy Advisory Board to the Prime Minister and the Chairman of the National Soft Power Development Committee delivered special remarks on Thailand’s soft power potential and the government’s initiatives to promote the Thai creative economy.
He explained the objectives of the Thai Creative Culture Agency (THACCA) to empower the creative industry in an integrated manner. He emphasized the government’s aim to upskill the workforce, create jobs, and boost the economy through soft power initiatives, while also expressing openness to collaborate with the private sector to contribute to the sector’s development.
Following the remarks, the panelists explored the impact of the film industry. The speakers shared insights into how the sector drives Thailand’s economic growth and international visibility. They also highlighted Thailand’s resourcefulness for the industry and the industry’s economic contribution through foreign investments, tourism, and spillover effects such as job creation and skills development, and support for local businesses. Strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors were emphasized, aiming at positioning Thailand as a leading global hub for film production.
