U.S. Tax Day is Postponed from April 15 to July 15

The U.S. Treasury Department and IRS has delayed Federal Tax Day from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020 in response to the ongoing covid-19 outbreak. The new July 15, 2020 deadline applies to:

  • Federal income tax filing
  • Tax payments for 2019
  • Q1 2020 estimated tax quarterly payments

The FBAR deadline is still April 15, 2020, but there is an automatic extension to October 15, 2020 applicable to all U.S. citizens both abroad and in the US (no filing required to obtain this extension).
