AMCHAM Corporate Social Responsibility Committee Chair, and Director of Corporate Engagement at Kenan Institute Asia, Mr. John DaSilva, represented AMCHAM at "The TVET Conference: The Linkage of Public and Private Sector for Enhancing and Developing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) through International Collaboration," run by the Ministry of Education. In the audience were government officials from Thailand's Ministry of Education’s Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC), as well as international education agencies and private sector representatives.
Speaking on best practices from the United States that can be adopted by Thailand to improve vocational education, John drew on his work with the AMCHAM CSR Committee and Kenan Institute Asia's to discuss the urgent need to improve Thailand’s vocation curriculum and teacher professional development, in support of Thailand 4.0. Using the five-year, US $30 million Chevron Enjoy Science project as a case study, John illustrated how a successful model to address these challenges is already underway, and should be considered for a wider roll out by the government.
