Ltd., and its AutoAlliance (Thailand) joint-venture, both located in the Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate, Rayong. Ford’s wholly-owned and joint-venture operations in Thailand currently employ around 10,000 people.
In 2010, with its Thailand operations leading the way, Ford began a product-led transformation of its business across the ASEAN region with the launch of the all-new Fiesta subcompact. This was followed by the all-new Ranger pickup in 2011, all-new Focus compact in 2012, all-new EcoSport compact SUV in 2014, and all-new Everest mid-size SUV in 2015.
In 2011, Ford was the fastest growing automotive brand in Thailand, and has since continued to outpace overall industry growth and gain market share. The Company is supporting its continued growth in Thailand with an ongoing expansion of its nationwide Ford dealer network which includes more than 140 locations.
Since 2007, Ford is one of the largest automotive investors in Thailand, having invested more than $1.7 billion to continually expand one of its key global production and export hubs. This includes an initial $450 million for its highly-flexible, state-of-the-art Ford Thailand Manufacturing (FTM) facility in Rayong. Production commenced in 2012 for the Focus, followed by the EcoSport and Fiesta in 2014. All models are for sale in the domestic market and export across the region.
Ford investments also include an additional $377 million in 2011 to upgrade and expand production of the pickup truck line at AutoAlliance Thailand (AAT) for the all-new Ranger and all-new Everest. Both vehicles are built for sale in the domestic market and export across the region. Ford’s annual capacity at AAT is 145,000 units.
In 2015, Ford invested an additional $186 million to FTM for incremental Ranger production to help meet extraordinary demand across the region. Total annual capacity of FTM is now 180,000 units.
