Details: Counterfeit Aircraft Components in Thailand: Legal Considerations

Thailand’s recent upgrade from the United States Trade Representative’s Priority Watch List to the Watch List represents an official acknowledgement of the great strides Thailand has made in improving its practices for intellectual property protection and enforcement as it progresses toward the goal of Thailand 4.0. However, significant intellectual property issues still remain, such as the availability of counterfeit or improperly refurbished aircraft components in Thailand.

Tilleke & Gibbins will present the legal risks associated with the use of counterfeit aircraft components in Thailand. The use of counterfeit parts in the supply chain presents substantial risks to airlines, brand owners, MROs, and others―not to mention the flying public.

The presentation will cover a wide-ranging discussion on the strategies and legal options available to stakeholders in the aviation industry, including enforcement of IP rights, liability concerns, and legal escalation against infringers in Thailand.
