Joint Presentation on Thai Customs Alliance Project to Provide Premium Expedited Customs Clearance for Chambers of Commerce members

The Australian-Thai Chamber of Commerce (AustCham) is delighted to host members from AustCham, The American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM), the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT), and the New Zealand Thai Chamber of Commerce (NZTCC) to discuss a new initiative from the Thai Customs Department called “Customs Alliance”.

The initiative is part of the Customs Department's plan for facilitating more efficient and transparent interactions for importers into Thailand via the implementation of a new mobile-friendly application designed to enhance the interaction between importers and the Customs Department. Applicants to the initiative recognised as low risk will receive prioritised trade services.

The Customs Alliance is grounded in a set of global standards agreed at an international level by Customs agencies worldwide, and the roll-out in Thailand will be modelled on a number of similar systems already used regionally in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

Speakers:
Superintendent Vince Shaw – Counselor (Mekong), Australian Embassy Bangkok
The Australian government has been working with the Thai Customs Department as it has developed the ‘Customs Alliance’ which has partly been inspired by the ‘Australian Trusted Traders’ program.

Given the close relationship between the Thai and Australian authorities on this matter, AustCham has invited Vince Shaw from the Australian Border Force to provide a presentation on the Australian roll-out of the system and in particular on how the system has been developed and designed in consultation with industry to ensure it provides a valuable contribution to firms' supply chains.

Mr. Nont Chuemsuk and Dr. Tee Chitrpitaklert, Thai Customs Department
The Thai Customs Department will also be on hand to present details about the Thai ‘Customs Alliance’ to chamber members and to assist in answering any particular questions relevant to importers in Thailand.

Cost: Free of charge for AustCham, AMCHAM, BCCT and NZTCC members only

Please note that this meeting is open to AustCham, AMCHAM, BCCT and NZTCC members only (limited to one participant per member company)

*Note: you need to bring passport or ID card on the day for entry.
