We are delighted to welcome the Secretary-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Rapee Sucharitakul, as guest speaker at our May monthly luncheon in conjunction with the Business Economics Committee.

In addition to his role as Secretary General at the SEC, Khun Rapee  also on plays a key role on the State Enterprise Policy Committee.

There are 56 state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in Thailand with total assets of around USD393.4 billion and 270,000 employees (or around 0.7 percent of the Thai labor force) with a combined income of almost USD100 billion (as of 2015).

In June 2014, the government established "the State Enterprise Policy Committee" or "Superboard," chaired by the Prime Minister, as a new central body to supervise and regulate all SOEs.   The Superboard was appointed with the aim of improving efficiency in the state-owned sector, reducing the public burden and preventing politicians from taking improper advantage.

As a Committee member of the Superboard and an advocate for Corporate Governance, Khun Rapee will provide insights into how the reforms are progressing.
