| Details: To start the fall season, we are pleased to welcome Mr. Wayne Mckinnon, Director of Certification and Training for the Green Globe Certification organization to present “The Business of Sustainable Tourism and its Benefits to both Individual Organizations and the Industry”. Khun Wayne is no stranger to the hospitality industry having started his career in hotels before becoming involved in the sustainable tourism field as lead auditor for ISO14001 certifications and now Green Globe certifications, the premier global travel and tourism certification. Wayne was responsible for the redevelopment of the new Green Globe tourism standard and the establishment of the Green Globe Academy; the world’s first online e-learning initiative for sustainable tourism. This included the development of Industry specific standards covering such industry segments as: ? Hotels & Resorts; ? Event Venues and Convention Centres; ? Green Meetings & Events; ? Attractions; and ? Tour Operations. Wayne is an ISO14001 Environmental Lead Auditor and has many years’ experience in the sustainable tourism arena. Wayne’s career also includes over 10 years in the catering and hospitality industry working for organisations including Hyatt Hotels, Southern Pacific Hotel Corporation and even a time managing a large country motel & convention facility in Australia. Wayne also has over 20 years IT experience working with major software manufacturers in a range of roles from product engineering & support through to business development. In addition to his work with Green Globe Certification, Wayne also consults to a range of global organisations on both sustainable business development and sustainability technology trends. |
