Transportation and Logistics Committee

MISSION

The TLC updates members on issues affecting all modes of transport associated with the supply chain within the Kingdom of Thailand. In addition, with global trade being a major engine running the Thai economy, the committee is tasked with keeping up to date on global transport and logistics initiatives and issues that may impact the supply/transport chain, including periodic updating of customs (Thai/US/Global) processing and governmental (Thai/US/ Global) regulations.

2012 ACCOMPLISHMENTS

In 2011 we focused on three main areas of interest: (1) private sector developments; (2) joint meetings and networking opportunities; (3) on site visits.

TLC members often provide our committee the most interesting and important presentations on the developments of the transportation and logistics industry. This year TLC was fortunate to have speakers from TNT, Coca-Cola/Thai Naamptip, General Motors, Maersk and Air Asia.

In November, we had our first joint meeting with the British Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee. Speakers from international transportation consulting firms, Meinhardt and The Halcrow Group, spoke about the State Railway of Thailand, MRT and BTS developments.

Several informative field trips gave TLC members a more in depth, hands on experience of how member companies operate. Highlights included witnessing Ford Ranger trucks being prepared for export to Afghanistan for the US military by RMA Group’s facilities in Laem Chabang and a tour at the FedEx and Bangkok Flight Services facilities at Suvanabhumi Airport, where we learned about how commerce and air transportation intersect.
