| Details: In Chon Buri last February, Tesco Lotus opened the first zero-carbon store ever in Asia. Having previously opened two other green stores (Rama I in 2004, and Salaya in 2008), the Chon Buri zero-carbon store is the third location in Tesco Lotus's green family. This gives the company a claim to being the most environmentally enlightened of the superstore brands in Thailand. This month the CSR Committee will hear from the Tesco Lotus Head of Public Affairs Charkrit Direkwattanachai. who will show how his company is engaged in “Making a Good Community to Live in, Caring for the Environment, and Green Stores.” The lessons to be shared with everybody include: power generation/savings; emissions control; waste management; and water treatment, to name only a few areas. Perhaps we can also learn a thing or two about return on investment, while we're at it! The Committee will also be announcing plans for this year's ACE -- AMCHAM CSR Excellence -- Recognition. |
