| A Distant Mirror | ||
| 'A Distant Mirror,' is a photo exhibition celebrating 175 years of U.S.-Thai relations. The archival-quality recreations in the exhibition are from works taken in Thailand at the turn of the century and preserved in the United States Library of Congress. The exhibition celebrates the long-standing friendship between Thailand and the United States, which begun in 1833 with the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Commerce. More details...

| 175 Years of U.S./Thai Relations | ||
| March 20th, 2008 marks the 175th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Commerce between His Majesty the Magnificent King of Siam and the United States of America. This was the U.S.’s first treaty with an Asian nation, and provided that the citizens of each nation '...shall, with sincerity, hold commercial intercourse in the Ports of their respective nations, as long as Heaven and Earth shall endure.' AMCHAM was pleased to participate with the U.S. Embassy in a series of events to mark this occasion including the presentation of the first 10 of 175 English Teaching Toolkits to teachers in Chiang Mai on March 18th and a luncheon featuring H.E. Prime Minister Samak on March 20th. The AMCHAM Thailand Charitable Foundation plans to award 175 Student Scholarships in honor or this anniversary, and AMCHAM will match all funds donated to the Foundation in Marcy by 75%. Additionally, AMCHAM announced a donation of Baht 1.75 million to the AMCHAM Thailand Charitable Foundation to assist with its Student Scholarship and Adopt-a-School programs.
